Uganda’s Youth Urged to Lead the Nation’s Future: PM Nabbanja Champions Patriotism at Masindi Graduation

A national call to serve

Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja has issued a passionate appeal to Uganda’s youth, calling on them to embrace patriotism as a driving force for the country’s development. Speaking at Uganda Technical College Kyema in Masindi District, Nabbanja presided over the graduation of more than 900 students who completed a structured training programme in ideology, patriotism, and mindset change.

900 graduates complete national mindset training

The ceremony, organised by the National Secretariat for Patriotism Corps, marked a significant milestone in Uganda’s ongoing effort to shape a civically engaged generation. Graduates had undergone intensive training designed to deepen their sense of national identity and strengthen their commitment to contributing meaningfully to their communities and country.

In her address, the Prime Minister struck a clear and unambiguous tone. “Uganda is the only country we have, and we must love it,” she said, drawing attention to the nation’s abundant natural resources as both a source of pride and a reason for every Ugandan to invest in the country’s future.

A resource-rich nation in need of engaged citizens

Nabbanja’s remarks underscored a broader government message: Uganda’s potential cannot be unlocked without a population that is motivated, grounded in shared values, and ready to contribute. The Patriotism Corps programme represents one of the state’s key tools for building that foundation among young people, particularly those in technical and vocational education.

College calls for expanded government support

Beyond the graduation ceremony, Uganda Technical College Kyema took the opportunity to formally request Prime Minister Nabbanja’s support in expanding its workforce. College leadership appealed for additional staff to be placed on the government payroll, citing the growing demand for qualified instructors as enrolment and programmes continue to expand.

The graduation at Kyema reflects a wider national push to align Uganda’s youth development agenda with the state’s long-term vision for inclusive growth and civic responsibility.
