Uganda: Investors Visit Kapeeka Industrial Park

A high-level United Kingdom–United Arab Emirates–India tripartite delegation on trade, investment, and tourism has undertaken a working visit to the Kapeeka Industrial Park to explore potential investment opportunities in Uganda.

The delegation, led by Her Excellency Lisa Chesney MBE, the British High Commissioner to Uganda, included a team of Indian investors and other members from the private sector. During the visit, they were given a guided tour of the industrial park to gain firsthand insight into Uganda’s growing industrial landscape.

The delegation also held a fruitful meeting with Gen. Salim Saleh at his Kirema Farm in Nakaseke District, where discussions focused on collaboration in industrialisation, trade, and investment. The team expressed optimism about Uganda’s progress in industrial development and reiterated their interest in exploring long-term investments in the country.

Their visit follows an invitation from Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja, as part of the follow-up to a Trade, Investment and Tourism Forum held in London in October last year.

Speaking on the visit, Ambassador Rosa Malango, the Special Presidential Envoy for Tourism and Trade, said the trip to Kapeeka Industrial Park was organized to showcase the diverse opportunities available to foreign investors. “We want the investors to see firsthand the potential sectors in Uganda where they can invest,” she explained. Malango noted that Uganda is prioritizing industrialisation, agro-processing, tourism, and the services sector to realize its goal of growing the national economy tenfold to USD 500 billion.

Uganda’s High Commissioner to the UK, Ambassador Nimisha Madhvani, described the meeting with Gen. Saleh as highly productive, noting that it opened discussions on strategic partnerships between Ugandan businesses and international investors.

In her remarks, High Commissioner Lisa Chesney underscored the significance of the visit, stating: “I’m delighted that the delegation from the Westminster Africa Business Association is in Uganda to explore how the United Kingdom and Uganda can deepen our trade and business relations.”

Laurence Robertson, Chief Executive of the Westminster Africa Business Association, commended Uganda for its progressive development agenda and supportive investment climate.

The multi-sectoral delegation, comprising representatives from various companies and professions, is visiting Uganda at the invitation of Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja on behalf of the President. Their mission focuses on identifying trade and investment opportunities—integrated with tourism—to yield immediate and long-term economic benefits for Uganda.

Discussions during the visit are expected to cover key sectors including agriculture, tourism, trade, health, education, energy (with emphasis on oil and gas), science, technology and innovation, and information and communication technology (ICT).
