Seychelles President Embarks on Strategic Diplomatic Tour to Russia and the UAE
Advancing Bilateral Cooperation and Economic Resilience
The Office of the President has announced that the President of the Republic of Seychelles, Dr. Patrick Herminie, will embark on a series of high-level working visits starting this weekend. The diplomatic mission begins in the Russian Federation, followed by a strategic stop in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The tour is designed to reinforce Seychelles’ international standing and advance key national interests through constructive and balanced engagement with global partners.
Strategic Focus Areas
The discussions during these visits are tailored toward strengthening the Seychelles economy and infrastructure. Key priority areas include:
- Tourism and Investment: Exploring new avenues to attract foreign capital and revitalize the nation’s primary economic engine.
- Transport and Air Connectivity: Negotiating enhanced flight routes and logistics to improve Seychelles’ accessibility as a global destination.
- Food Security: Developing partnerships to ensure a stable supply chain and bolster national resilience against global market fluctuations.
- Sustainable Development: Sharing expertise and securing support for environmental and infrastructure projects.
Delegation and Governance
President Herminie will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including various Ministers and senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Diaspora.
While the President is abroad, the Vice President, Mr. Sebastien Pillay, will discharge all official duties and responsibilities, ensuring continuity of government operations. These visits highlight Seychelles’ proactive approach to international relations, seeking to diversify its partnerships to support long-term economic stability.
