President Herminie Rallies Seychellois Diaspora in Durban for National Progress

During his inaugural day in Durban, President Dr. Patrick Herminie engaged in substantive discussions with members of the Seychellois community residing in South Africa, signaling a concerted push by the administration to deepen collaboration with citizens abroad. Accompanying the President on the trip were Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Diaspora Ambassador Barry Faure, Chief of Staff in the Office of the President Ms. Jeniffer Vel, and Acting High Commissioner of Seychelles to South Africa Mrs. Veronique Morel.
Highlighting the strategic value of the diaspora, President Herminie pointed to the creation of a specialized Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the Diaspora as concrete proof of the government’s dedication. During the interactive session, he listened to accounts of successful professional journeys across key sectors such as commerce, academics, healthcare, and hospitality—domains where domestic skill gaps frequently occur. He pledged that the administration would establish practical mechanisms to channel this wealth of global experience back into the ongoing growth of Seychelles.
Looking toward the future, President Herminie articulated a unifying vision for the archipelago, declaring that the era of political division has drawn to a close. Emphasizing that national progress requires the collective effort of every citizen, he outlined active measures being implemented to foster enduring peace and social cohesion across the country.
