Uganda: OPM Assesses Silkworm Project Implementation in Kween

A team from the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) on Friday February 6th, 2026 assessed the implementation of the government-supported silkworm project in Kween District.
Led by the Head of the Prime Minister’s Delivery Unit (PMDU), Mr. Robert Kasule Sebunya, the team comprised technical officers from PMDU, Strategic Coordination and Implementation Department and the Office of the Deputy Head of Public Service.
During the visit, the team engaged the district leaders at the project site to collect first-hand information on its progress, implementation challenges, and strategies to fast-track its execution.
The silkworm project is intended to increase household incomes and create employment opportunities for residents.
Mr. Sebunya encouraged district administrators to work in a coordinated and collaborative manner to ensure the project’s smooth implementation. He emphasised the importance of unity, cooperation and shared responsibility in achieving the objectives of the project and improving the well-being of the people.
“If you work as one team, you will improve the welfare of the people and achieve the intended objectives of the project,” he said.
Mr Sebunya also urged officers responsible for the project’s implementation to prepare comprehensive reports and maintain accurate records containing complete information on all employees, their roles and duties. He noted that proper documentation would support informed decision-making related to the project.
He affirmed the government’s commitment to improving the livelihoods of the people in Kween and across the country through initiatives such as the silkworm project.
