Côte d’Ivoire Secures $750 Million Partnership to Power Its National Development Plan

Côte d’Ivoire has taken a significant step forward in financing its economic transformation. As part of the rollout of its National Development Plan (NDP) 2026–2030, the country has formalized a major framework agreement with the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC), a member of the Islamic Development Bank Group. The strategic partnership unlocks $750 million to support key pillars of the Ivorian economy.

Backing the Real Economy

The financing is structured to strengthen several agricultural and industrial value chains, with particular focus on export-driven sectors such as cocoa and cashew — the twin engines of the national economy. By improving access to finance for local operators, the agreement aims to increase the share of value added domestically and sharpen the competitiveness of Ivorian products on international markets.

A Catalyst for the NDP 2026–2030

The alignment of this funding with the new NDP signals a long-term vision that goes well beyond commodity trade. Resources will be directed toward logistics infrastructure and the digitalization of trade services — two levers that are critical to reducing supply chain costs and making Côte d’Ivoire a more attractive destination for private investment in the years ahead.

Opening Doors for the Private Sector

The ITFC’s commitment extends beyond large-scale public projects. Through tailored financing mechanisms, the facility is designed to help Ivorian SMEs integrate more effectively into global supply chains. For the local business ecosystem, this translates into real opportunities: job creation, skills development, and stronger managerial and technological capacity at the enterprise level.

A Vote of Confidence

This agreement reflects the continued trust that international financial institutions place in the resilience and stability of Côte d’Ivoire’s business environment. More than a liquidity injection, the partnership embodies a shared commitment to knowledge transfer and a deliberate push toward a more diversified, inclusive, and industrially oriented Ivorian economy.
