Ghana’s Right to Dream Academy: Football Stars Excel in Robotics and AI, Backed by Ministry Support

The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations recently had the distinct honor of hosting the brilliant student-athletes and coaches from the Right to Dream Academy. While the academy is globally renowned for producing elite football talent like Mohammed Kudus and Caleb Yirenkyi—Ghana’s 2026 World Cup goal scorer against Panama—these young innovators visited to showcase a different kind of mastery: Robotics and Artificial Intelligence.
Having secured 1st place at the national AI For Good competition and an impressive 2nd place (senior category) globally at the Robofest2026 World Championship, these students are unequivocally proving that Ghana’s youth can excel both on the football pitch and in the digital realm.
During their courtesy call, the Honourable Minister Samuel Nartey George commended the academy’s unique “more than a footballer” philosophy. He shared vital words of wisdom, emphasizing why digital literacy serves as an invaluable safety net for athletes:
“Football has a shelf life… What will set you apart from any other equally gifted student is the fact that your CV includes all these robotics championships. The school knows they’re not just gaining a sports athlete; they’re also acquiring a fantastic science major.”
In his remarks, Hon. George extended profound gratitude, on behalf of the Government of Ghana, to the MTN Ghana Foundation and the Telecel Ghana Foundation. Their generous sponsorship is enabling the team to represent the nation on the world stage in Geneva in just two weeks.
To complement this corporate support and ensure these rising stars have the long-term infrastructure to continue shattering boundaries, the Honourable Minister announced that the Ministry is pledging 30 brand-new laptops. These will support the academy’s computer lab and facilitate the onboarding of students onto the One Million Coders Programme.
